Meridian Mail Instructions
Your voicemail messages will be retained for five days after you have listened to them. After five days, all opened messages will be automatically deleted by the system. All messages are saved until they are opened.
- Voicemail options:
- Access your voicemail:
- Pick up your receiver and press the "message" button, if your
phone does not have a message button please dial Ext. 2-6245. Or, if you are off-campus, dial 312-362-6245.
- The first prompt asks you to enter your "mailbox," enter your extension and then the # sign. (If you are calling from your own extension, you can just press #.)
- The next prompt asks for your password.
- When you access your voicemail for the first time, your password will be the same as your extension. Enter your password and #.
- You will be prompted to change your password right away if you are a first time user.
- Once logged in, choose any of the voicemail options.

- Play your messages, press 2:
- To go to the next message, press 6.
- To delete a message, press 76.
- To restore a deleted message (before ending current session) press 76 again.

- Change your password, press 84:
- Enter your new password and #. (Your password may be 4-16 numbers or letters, except # or *.)
- Enter the new password again and #.
- Enter your old password and #.

- Record your greetings, press 82:
You can record two types of greetings: external and internal.
An external greeting is your announcement to outside callers. An internal greeting is a slightly different, optional message that is your announcement to callers inside the university. Your external greeting will serve both purposes if you choose not to create an internal greeting.
- Press 1 for external greeting or press 2 for internal greeting.
- Press 2 to review current recorded greeting after choosing type of greeting.
- Press 5 to record.
- Speak after the tone.
- Press # to end the recording.
- Follow the prompts to play back the greeting, delete the greeting or re-record the greeting.

- Record your name (personal verification), press 89:
Your personal verification will be included in your greeting, outgoing messages, and in name dialing and remote notification responses.
- Log in, press 89.
- Press 5 to record. Wait for the tone, then record your name and, if you wish, your extension number.
- Press # to end recording.

- Send an express message:
Express messaging allows you to leave a message in another mailbox without calling that person.
- Dial the express messaging access number (Loop Ext. 2-5945, or Lincoln Park Ext. 5-7712).
- Enter the extension of the person for whom you are leaving the message and press #.
- Leave your message.

- Fast-forward/rewind:
- To fast-forward through a message, press 3
- To rewind a message, press 1.

- Operator assistance number:
This feature enables callers to reach a DePaul operator if you are unavailable, which is useful if you will not be checking your voicemail messages for a while (due to a leave or vacation) and would like to provide your callers with another staff member to speak with.
- After you are logged into your voicemail, press 80.
- Press 1 to change the operator assistance number.
- Enter the new operator assistance five-digit extension number, or
you can enter 0 to forward to the DePaul operator, and press #.
- Update your greeting to let callers know they can press 0 to reach another person's extension.
