Undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credit hours in the fall quarter are eligible for the fall U-Pass.

Eligibility

The CTA U-Pass is a transit pass that eligible students can use for unlimited rides anywhere on the CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) system. Currently, eligible students include:

  • Full-time traditional undergraduate students (12 or more credit hours) in all colleges

  • Full-time Law (9 or more credit hours per semester)

  • Full time LA&S graduate (8 or more credit hours)

  • Full-time Music graduate (6 or more credit hours)

The U-Pass is valid on CTA-operated bus and rail lines 24 hours per day and seven days per week. The pass is NOT valid during winter break or during the summer. The U-Pass is valid over Spring Break. U-Passes will work through the date printed on the U-Pass as long as students remain eligible.

Important Facts:
  • Effective January 1, 2009, Pace Bus will no longer honor the CTA U-Pass on its routes/services.

  • U-Pass replaces cash for all CTA fares - no cash is needed.

  • U-Pass does not require a transfer or surcharge.

  • U-Pass is NOT valid for travel on Metra commuter trains.

  • The cards of students who drop to part-time status will be deactivated.

  • U-Pass is also valid for CTA Para-transit Special Services (for those qualified through the RTA) until the printed expiration date.

  • Students can use the U-Pass on any CTA bus and rail line at any time. For CTA maps and schedules, visit the CTA Web Site.

  • DePaul is a participant in the CTA U-Pass program; however, fees, rules, and regulations are established by the Chicago Transit Authority and may change periodically.

  • CTA establishes eligibility.

  • CTA determines how fees are applied and collected.
